The Imo State Government has
announced Oct. 5 as the date for the resumption of schools in the state closed
in March following the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country. This is contained
in a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr
Oguwike Nwachukwu, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Owerri.

2020 has been announced as the resumption date for schools in Imo state.
Schools closed in the state in March due to fears over the outbreak of COVID-19
all over the world. But over the past few weeks, since it has been discovered
that the virus is already at bay in Africa, schools have been slowly reopening
all over the country.
The announcement in Imo State is
contained in a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the
Governor, Mr. Oguwike Nwachukwu and it was made available to newsmen. The
statement said that the resumption was subject to keeping to the recommendations
of the committee enforcing COVID-19 safety protocols headed by the Deputy
Governor of Imo State Prof. Placid Njoku. The Chief press secretary said the
state executive council also gave its nod for the Imo State school system to be
fully automated and digitalized to capture the enrolment of pupils and
students, their personal data, payment of their fees and other relevant
information concerning schools in Imo State.
