Women, many of whom are mothers
from Umudibia Nekede Autonomous community, Owerri West Council Area of Imo
State have threatened the state
government that if it fails to repair the dilapidated Nekede-Ihiagwa
roads which has been a source of nightmare to residents of the community, that
they will go naked in protest.

which lead to the two Federal tertiary institutions in the state has become a
source of suffering to parents, students and even motorists as it has become
According to Mrs. Ifeyinwa
Martin, the woman leader in the community, the road has become a death trap as
people regularly fall inside gutters concealed by mud each time it rains.
“It is also difficult for us to
drive through the muddy water or take our children to school. No vehicle or
human being that passes the road without sinking,” she said to journalists.
The State Governor, Hope Uzodimma
has on this account, directed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice
to commence a process aimed at recovering the mobilization fee given to the contractor
in charge of handling the road.
According to him, the contractor
has failed the people after he collected a mobilization fee of N1.4 billion.
